Meta-Psychotherapy at Tír na nÓg Therapy – Conscious Centered Living
Meta-psychotherapy is an integrative and reflective therapeutic approach offered at Tír na nÓg Therapy, drawing on elements of Therapeutic Counselling, Mindfulness, modern Neuroscience, Philosophical reflection, and consciousness-based perspective. This approach supports emotional wellbeing by helping clients explore the psychological, emotional, and relational factors that influence their experiences.
Meta-psychotherapy has proven to be helpful for individuals seeking support with anxiety, low mood, emotional distress, anger, phobias, stress, or long-standing patterns that feel difficult to understand or change, as well as those interested in greater self-awareness and personal development.
This approach recognises that emotional and psychological difficulties are often complex and multi-layered, shaped by personal history, relationships, belief systems, and lived experience. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, Meta-psychotherapy offers space to explore the underlying meanings, patterns, and responses that contribute to emotional difficulties.

Elements of Neuroscience-informed practice are used to support understanding of how the nervous system responds to stress, trauma, and emotional activation. This knowledge can help clients develop greater insight into their responses and build more supportive ways of coping.
An Integrative Therapeutic Framework

Philosophical and reflective perspectives, including Stoicism and Consciousness-based ideas, may be introduced where appropriate to support exploration of values, meaning, resilience, and personal responsibility. These perspectives are offered as tools for reflection.
Mindfulness-based practices are integrated to support present-moment awareness, emotional regulation, and a more compassionate relationship with thoughts and feelings. Clients are invited to observe their inner experience without judgement, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
Therapeutic Counselling provides the central, grounding structure of the work. Sessions take place within a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship, where clients are supported to explore emotions, experiences, and concerns with care and respect. The therapeutic relationship itself is an important part of the process, offering consistency, trust, and support.
